Wonderful, just brilliant. I can’t stop smiling.

Here is Jim Carrey, Eric and Ramzy (2 french actors), in a rare short film entitled Pecan Pie (2003), directed by Michel Gondry. The story is as amazing as one could expect from Gondry: A man (Jim Carrey) in his pajamas drives in a bed that moves like a car, while singing Elvis Presley’s Pecan Pie. I just love the moment when Jim Carrey is on the bed, dancing. This short is only 1’24, you have no excuse for not watching it.

WGA 101 Greatest Screenplays, todays download: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

It’s an unfortunate fact that most everyone, at some point, will have a bad relationship. The film Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind poses the question: What if you could have the memory of this bad relationship erased? Would you do it? If so, what kind of impact would erasing memories have on you? Smart, funny, and engaging, this latest outing by enigmatic Screenwriter Charlie Kaufman and accomplished Music Video Director Michel Gondry is an absolute treat. Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind is one of those rare films that, after watching it, you’ll want to run back and watch it again and again.

Charlie Kaufman & Michel Gondry - In addition to reading this interview you can also listen to the complete audio version.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: memory and film-making - Seed Magazine has a video of a fascinating conversation between sleep scientist Robert Stickgold and film director Michel Gondry, director of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Stickgold has reinvigorated sleep research by investigating the borderlands of consciousness with a series of novel experiments.

“MY FILMMAKING EDUCATION CONSISTED OF FINDING OUT WHAT FILMMAKERS I LIKED WERE WATCHING, THEN SEEING THOSE FILMS. I LEARNED THE TECHNICAL STUFF FROM BOOKS AND MAGS, AND WITH THE NEW TECHNOLOGY YOU CAN WATCH ENTIRE MOVIES ACCOMPANIED BY COMMENTARY FROM THE DIRECTOR. YOU CAN LEARN MORE FROM JOHN STURGES' AUDIO TRACK ON THE 'BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK' LASERDISC THAN YOU CAN IN 4 YEARS OF FILM SCHOOL. FILM SCHOOL IS A COMPLETE CON, BECAUSE THE INFORMATION IS THERE IF YOU WANT IT.” P.T. Anderson
